COMMERCIAL FISHING SEAT OPEN

Sanctuary Accepting Applications for Commercial Fishing Seat on Advisory Council
February 2007--We are in the process of filling a vacant seat on our Sanctuary Advisory Council.  Beginning immediately, we will accept applications and nominations for council membership for the Commercial Fishing seat.

The Council provides advice to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Sanctuary Superintendent on the management of the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary.  It also serves as an informal link between NOAA and the community. 

Sanctuary Advisory Council membership includes representatives from various constituent groups including:  recreational diving, diving operations, oil and gas production, recreational fishing, commercial fishing, research, education and conservation. 

Below is the Sanctuary Advisory Council application kit, which consists of four items: a cover letter, the Council charter, an application form and information on the various council seats. You may also access information about the various Council seats using the link at the top of this page.  The Council term for the Commercial Fishing seat will be for two years.

Application Deadline: March 15, 2007.
